Waldorf Education Method

- Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925)

man is a threefold being

  • •spirit

  • •soul

  • •body

three developmental stages.

  • First 7 years – no formal education

  • K- 8th grade – reject computers, textbooks, basal readers, etc.

- human-centered method of education

- children not “little” adults

- immature wills and minds

  • High School – traditional courses

Rudolf Steiner believed in educating the mind and the soul. There is a stronger focus on the arts, such as music, drama, sewing, and painting; these skills are as essential to a complete life experience as academic subjects.

The total Waldorf curriculum has been likened to an ascending spiral:

  • subjects are revisited several times,

  • but each new exposure affords greater depth and new insights into the subject at hand.
